BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly stabbing someone in the back earlier in the month.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, Eric Ballard Jr., 25, stabbed another man with a knife while in his grandmother's home on December 6. Detectives said he left the weapon in the victim's back.
According to investigators, Ballard then left the home in his grandmother's 1995 Honda after taking the keys to the vehicle.
The victim was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Reports indicate the blade punctured both lungs before resting against his heart.
Officials said the victim underwent "lifesaving surgery and is now recovering from his injuries." He later identified Ballard in a line up.
Ballard was booked on charges of second-degree murder and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
