BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Wreaths Across America designates a day in December to honor our fallen veterans. The ceremony was at Port Hudson Memorial in Zachary, La. Mia Jackson's grandfather served in World War II. Although he like many, have passed on to the next realm, his stories of heroism live on.
"When I was a little girl, everywhere he went I went. We were very close," said Jackson.
Jackson's father was also a Vietnam veteran and he was rest peacefully as well at the cemetery. She was accompanied by her mom and her two daughters. She said she wanted her young ones to always remember their grandfather and great grandfather.
"I just want them to understand that they're heroes they are our love one, but we had to sacrifice them to serve this country and also sacrifice them again when God was ready for them to go home," said Jackson.
