BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Mayor Kip Holden and sponsors of Baton Rouge's first ever New Year's Eve celebration announced the activities scheduled for Red Stick Revelry, including the release of the official song for the event.
Holden said WAFB-TV will broadcast the Red Stick drop at Town Square live with a special half-hour program airing from 11:40 p.m. until 12:10 a.m. Andre Moreau has been named emcee for Baton Rouge's first-ever Red Stick Revelry on New Year's Eve.
"Red Stick Revelry," the official song of the celebration, is now available on iTunes with a music video that will air on the beacon in Town Square throughout the holidays.

Red Stick Revelry (the event) will include the following activities on Tuesday, December 31, from 11 a.m. until noon at Town Square, which are free to the public:
The Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge and local artists will provide hands-on activities for kids on the Town Square lawn.
Robby Wilson, Assistant Director of the Louisiana Book Festival, will perform the "Legend of the Red Stick," a story for all ages that tells how the City of Baton Rouge got its name.
Steve Hood with Geaux Body Fitness Studio will provide free lessons to learn the "Red Stick Revelry" line dance and a warm-up routine to the song to help revelers get started on New Year's resolutions to lead a more active and healthy lifestyle.
At noon, Holden and others will lead participants in singing Auld Lang Syne for "Red Stick Rising," when the Red Stick is raised into place 60 feet in the air for the midnight drop.
On Friday, December 27, the Official Red Stick Revelry Cocktail Contest will be held at the Belle of Baton Rouge Casino Atrium at 7 p.m. prior to the Rockin' Dopsie concert at 8 p.m. Baton Rouge's favorite mixologists will compete for a panel of celebrity judges to choose the winning cocktail for the 2013 celebration.
