Suspect in rash of burglaries turns himself in to deputies

GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - A man wanted in a rash of burglaries turned himself in to authorities after being featured as a Crime Stoppers wanted fugitive.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office reported Michael Posey Jr., 20, of Prairieville, surrendered to deputies Monday. He faces the following charges:

Simple burglary (6 counts)

Felony theft

Misdemeanor theft

Theft of a firearm

Criminal trespass

Simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling

Investigators said several burglaries happened in an area of Gonzales on November 26 and 27.

Posey is suspecting of breaking into six vehicles and a home. Deputies said he then tried to sell the stolen items.

Posey was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on the above charges. His bond was set at $52,340.
