Residents asked to shop for Christmas without spending money

Posted: Updated:
ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Residents of Ascension Parish are invited to shop with the Sheriff's Jeff Wiley's staff for the 2013 Christmas Crusade for Children Program.

Volunteers can meet the staff on Thursday, December 12th at 6:30 p.m. They will receive family cards detailing the children's ages and requested gifts for Christmas, then pick out gifts that are tagged and bagged at the checkout counters. Gifts will be paid for with funds raised from the program, and stored in a warehouse until parents receive them.

Volunteers do not have to pay for the gifts; however the APSO will be accepting monetary donations and new toys for disadvantaged children in the parish.

For more information about the Christmas Crusade for Children Program you can contact Deputy Janet Fontenot at 225-621-8318 or by email at jfontenot@ascensionsheriff.com or Deputy Jodie Barrow at 225-621-8374 or jdelaune@ascensionsheriff.com.
