BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The red hat was the signature for the Acacia Shriners' annual banquet Wednesday night.
There was a great turnout for the community organization, which participates in many fundraising efforts for charities.
The headliner was former Gov. Edwin Edwards. He had wife, Trina, and their new son, Eli, with him for the event.
"They maintain 22 hospitals for children around the world," said Edwards. "And incidentally, the first one was in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1922. And, while I was a child in the depression days, one of my childhood friends was treated by the Shriner's Hospital in Shreveport."
The governor graciously posed for pictures and little Eli was happily taking it all in on his mother's lap, where he looked relaxed and happy.
