Police increase patrols in area where jogger attacked

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police are ramping up patrols and urging people to be safe after a woman was attacked while in a popular jogging location.

The Baton Rouge Police Department has stepped up its patrols near the LSU Lakes and officers are urging joggers to be careful.

Authorities said the increased patrols were put in place after a 30-year-old woman was attacked and strangled unconscious recently during an evening jog.

The LSU Police Department said the lakes are still a relatively safe place to exercise and its officers have also increased patrols.
