BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A Sulfer, LA woman and a man from Baton Rouge were arrested early Friday morning after being accused of stealing items from Macy's on Bluebonnet.
The man, now identified as Daryeus Martin, is accused of placing $158 worth of clothing inside his pants around 2:30 a.m. Police reports say that loss prevention employees saw him on the store surveillance system placing the items and walking out of the store.
Employees stopped Martin after he left the store and recovered the stolen merchandise. Deputies were called and Martin gave a fake name to the officers. They found a card in his possession identifying him as Martin.
He was taken to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where he is being held on a $5,000 bond. He is charged with theft of goods and resisting an officer.
A second theft happened about an hour later. Loss prevention employees walking the floor saw a woman identified as Jenny McMullen take merchandise from the display racks into a dressing room.
Reports say the woman had two purses, assorted clothing and jewelry with a combined value of more than $1,200. McMullen was reportedly in the dressing room for about 45 minutes and came out with only the two purses in her hand. The loss prevention team stopped McMullen outside of the store.
The report states that McMullen had removed all of the tags from the merchandise and hid them in the purses before walking out of the store. Reports say that she admitted to stealing the merchandise.
McMullen was taken to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison where she was booked on theft of goods charges and is being held on a $5,000 bond.
