Man accused of punching woman, fracturing her face and head

PATTERSON, LA (WAFB) - Authorities said a man faces multiple battery charges after allegedly hitting two women before getting stabbed and running off.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office reported Leo Vaughn, 36, of Patterson, was arrested early Friday morning.

Deputies said witnesses told them Vaughn attacked a woman during an argument at a home. They claimed he knocked her to the floor and punched her in the face several times.

According to the witnesses, Vaughn allegedly then hit another woman on the side of the head when she tried to step in to help the first woman.

Investigators said witnesses reported a man at the home pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed Vaughn until he ran off.

Detectives said one of the women was taken to the hospital to be treated for fractures to her face and head.

Vaughn was also taken to the hospital. Officials did not elaborate on the severity of his injuries. He was booked into the parish jail after being released from the hospital.

He faces the following charges:

Domestic abuse battery (second-degree)

Domestic abuse battery

Simple battery

Disturbing the peace (intoxication)

No bond was set.
