UPDATE: Man killed in early morning wreck identified

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Authorities have released the identity of the pedestrian that was struck and killed by a truck in Biloxi Sunday morning.

Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove said that 22-year-old Kamal Shafeek of Dayton, Ohio, was hit and killed by a 2008 Nissan Titan at around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday.

The incident happened near the intersection of Highway 67 and Highway 15. Authorities said the driver of the vehicle did not appear to be impaired.
