Funeral arrangements have been set for a fallen soldier from the ArkLaTex.

Staff Sergeant Richard Lee Vazquez was critically injured by a roadside bomb on November 6, and later passed in an Army hospital. Family members say the 28-year-old Special Forces Green Beret was serving his 3rd tour in Afghanistan.

His body was returned to the U.S. on Friday, and arrived in Shreveport Saturday morning.

The plane landed just before noon as dozens of family and supporters paid their respects to the fallen hero.

"Every time we feel like breaking down, there's just a power we can get from somewhere else and all the love just lets us realize how special he really was, we knew because we raised him, but just the fact that he changed so many lives out there, he really made an impact on his world", said Christine Vasquez, the victim's sister.

His family says that he was always patriotic and wanted to serve and protect his country.

Vasquez was only 28-years-old.
