Local businesses reap benefits from LSU, Saints winning

SORRENTO, LA (WAFB) - One of Louisiana's best keep secrets is located right off the interstate in Sorrento. The Cajun Shop in Cajun Village is what some people consider the largest collection of LSU and Saints gear in the state.

Buried behind shelves of original Louisiana spices and trinkets are two large rooms. One is filled with LSU gifts, the other dedicated to the black and gold.

The store has everything from home decor to toys and even an elaborate wardrobe for pets.

Owner, Beth Laiche, said regardless of how well the two teams are doing, the items are a hit.

"Primarily LSU is where the gift giving is, and people will pick up Saints stuff because they're saints fans and the season is winning. If LSU and Saints only knew how much they impact local and statewide small business merchandising they would win every game I'm sure," Laiche said.

Cajun Village is nestled where Highway 22 and Highway 70 meet, just off Exit 182 on I-10.

It is open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
