Woman attacked while running near LSU Lakes

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police are looking for the man who attacked a woman while she was running near the LSU Lakes Thursday evening.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported the assault happened in the 2500 block of East Lakeshore Drive around 6:15 p.m.

Cpl. Don Coppola Jr. with BRPD said detectives learned a 30-year-old woman was grabbed from behind and put into a strangle hold until she briefly lost consciousness.

According to reports, the victim woke up with the suspect on top of her. Investigators said she told them her attacker was punching her in the stomach and chest.

She started screaming and the suspect eventually got up and ran away. Coppola said she was not badly injured and didn't need any medical treatment.

Police described the attacker as a muscular black man. He was 5'8" to 5'10" and weighed between 185 and 200 pounds. He was wearing reddish/pink colored shirt with dark colored shorts or pants.
