BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - People who live in the Garden District are on guard following a rash of crimes in their neighborhood.
In recent days, several homes and cars have been broken into, but homeowners are really on edge now after hearing an 11-year-old in their neighborhood was almost kidnapped Tuesday.
There is a police presence there, but some believe tackling the problem will take a community effort.
"It makes me once again be more on guard. There's only a certain amount one person can do, go to some neighbors start banning together and being more proactive and hopefully we can get more toward a solution," said Garden District homeowner Carter Carroll.
Carroll says homeowners in the Garden District could start by making sure their security guard dues are paid.
That money goes toward private police patrols.
