Ascension Parish deputies arrest clerks selling alcohol to minors

ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Several convenience store clerks were placed behind bars for selling alcohols to minors in Ascension Parish.

According to a report from the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies teamed up with the Louisiana Alcohol and Tobacco Control agents to crack down on underage alcohol sales. Two 17-year-olds entered various convenience stores on the east and west bank of Ascension Parish. The minors attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages, and clerks who made the sale were charged.

The following clerks were charged with unlawful sale to persons under 21:

Donaldsonville:

Tracy Mitchell, 26, of Donaldsonville, La. - TB Chevron located at 21 West 10th Street, Donaldsonville.

Fadhle Mohamed Alhaj, 41, of Donaldsonville, La.  - Pak A Pak located at 32 West 10th Street, Donaldsonville.

Prairieville:

Kelly Broussard, 31, of Prairieville, La. - Post Office Chevron located at 16019 US 61, Prairieville.

Joby Jackson, 47, of St. Amant, La. - Triple S located at 44429 Weber City Road, St. Amant.

Gonzales:

Patrice Hendricks, 44, of Prairieville, La. - Chips Grocery II located at 15530 Highway 44, Gonzales.

The report also disclosed that the stores, Triple S and Chips Grocery II, are repeat offenders because they were issued a summons one month ago during a previous alcohol sting operation.
