Man accused of multiple counts of murder and attempted murder set for motions hearing

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man facing several murder and attempted murder charges after a violent crime spree two years ago is due back in court Wednesday.

A motions hearing is scheduled for Melichi Corbin, 24, of Baton Rouge. He is accused of killing a 14-year-old and two other people on February 12, 2011.

Corbin faces a list of charges, including first and second-degree murder and six counts of attempted murder.

Investigators said he shot Brandon Watson and Calvin Ervin as they stood outside an apartment complex during an attempted robbery.

He has been charged with two counts of first degree murder in connection with the deaths of Watson and Ervin.

Corbin was already in jail for a murder that happened February 13th, 2011 on St. Gerard Street. He was also charged in a double shooting that left two people wounded on Dan Drive.
