The Southern Jaguars comeback season continued Saturday night at A.W. Mumford Stadium, as Dawson Odum's club pounded Clark Atlanta by the final of 53-0.
With the win, the Jaguars ensure themselves of a winning year, improving to 7-4 overall. The Division II Panthers were in trouble from the start, as Johnathan Mack intercepted a pass and returned it 44 yards for a touchdown on the game's second play.
Lee Doss would then haul in a 44-yard bomb from Dray Joseph for a 13-0 edge, and the rout was on. Joseph would also become Southern's all-time leading passer in yardage, eclipsing the old mark held by Bryant Lee. Lenard Tillery would then score on touchdown runs of 7 and 17 yards, and Southern led 26-0 at the half. The Panthers failed to gain a first down in that first half, gaining an anemic 31 yards of total offense on 22 plays.
Tillery would finish with 114 yards on 19 carries, while Kylum Favorite romped for 108 yards rushing on just eight attempts. The Jaguars will now enjoy a bye week, before the annual Bayou Classic against woeful Grambling in New Orleans.
