BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man who is accused of scamming an Alzheimer's patient out of more than $50,000 was arrested Friday.
Dustin Gant, 31, was arrested by sheriff's deputies after a short footchase.
He was treated for minor injuries at the hospital.
Police received a tip that led authorities to Gant.
According to investigators, Gant and Faye Smith worked odd jobs, such as fixing fences and flowerbeds around the victim's home for four months. Police say family members noticed things, like the man's checkbooks, were disappearing.
Detectives believe there are other victims in the Baton Rouge area.
Smith is still at large.
