BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Detectives said they have determined a deadly stabbing Thursday morning was justified on the grounds of self defense.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Kendrick Edwards, 19, of Baton Rouge, was stabbed on Hollywood Street at Autumn Blossom Avenue near Airline Highway around 11 a.m.
He was found in the front yard of the home and rushed to an area hospital, where he later died.
According to detectives, Edwards went to the home of an 18-year-old woman he knew and physically assaulted her inside the home.
According to the police report, the woman reached for a knife to defend herself as the attack continued. The report stated she "stabbed Edwards in the upper right leg groin area."
The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office said an autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning.
