BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A man was booked on several charges, including violating a protective order, after he allegedly broke into a woman's home and held a knife to her throat Saturday morning.
According to the probable cause report, the victim claims William Brown, 29, of Baton Rouge, broke into the home and attacked her around 9:30 a.m.
"The victim stated that [Brown] woke her from her sleep with a knife to her throat," the report noted. "The victim was able to escape…[Brown] began to leave the residence. The victim locked the door behind him. At this time [he] returned to the door and began 'beating' on the door attempting to re-enter the residence."
The victim called police and while she was on the phone, she claims she heard a loud crash coming from her bedroom. Brown allegedly removed the window unit air conditioner to get back into the home.
"[Brown] picked up the victim against her will and threw her to the ground. It was during this altercation that officers arrived on scene and verbally announced their presence," the report stated.
Officers reported seeing Brown dive head first out an open window when they made their way into the home. However, reports indicate an officer outside caught him after a short foot chase.
"[Brown] was transported to a local hospital to treat minor lacerations sustained while attempting to flee," the report also stated.
The victim was not taken to the hospital, but officers did note she had red marks on her neck consistent with a knife being held to her throat.
The victim had a protective order against Brown. It was issued on June 12, 2013 and does not expire until Dec. 12, 2014.
Brown was arrested and charged with violation of protection order, aggravated battery and aggravated burglary. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. His bond was set at $30,000.
