C-SPAN bus visits Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The C-SPAN bus made a pair of stops in Baton Rouge Thursday to promote the public affairs network.

The bus stopped at Baton Rouge Magnet High in the morning and the LSU campus in the afternoon.

Visitors on the bus were able to play quizzes on touch screens about C-SPAN and the three branches of government.  In addition, visitors learned about public affairs coverage, educational outreach and social media networking.

C-SPAN's StudentCam 2014 documentary competition is beginning with a new theme, "A Message to the U.S. Congress: What's the most important issue the Congress should consider in 2014?"  The network has doubled the number of student prizes to 150, and is awarding $100,000 in prize money.

This is the 20th year the C-SPAN bus has been on the road, visiting cities and schools on its fall tour.
