Police: Cop impersonators search home and steal money

ZACHARY, LA (WAFB) - Police are anxious to find two men who robbed a woman's home last night in the Live Oaks Trace subdivision in Zachary.

The startling news is she thought they were cops. Police say the two men allegedly dressed in police attire and had a fake warrant. The cooperative homeowner let the imposters in, and they started searching the home. The imposters allegedly found a safe and took an undisclosed amount of money.

"It's kind of shocking to be honest especially in a city like Zachary," said Andrew Macker who attends First Baptist church, just down the street.

Zachary Police David McDavid said the public should be on Guard.

"I would check before I open the door. Call our office to make sure it is us. If not, have us come out there to check to see who these people are, before you let them in," said McDavid.

If you know any details of this case please call the Zachary Police Department at (225) 654-9393.

Police have not yet released a description of the suspects.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
