Help wanted: 3,000 positions need filling at job fair

PEORIA, AZ (CBS5) -

Phoenix-area residents looking for work should plan to attend a big job fair on Thursday.

More than 120 employers seeking to fill 3,000 positions will be at the event ready to interview applicants and accept their resumes.

The job fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Peoria Sports Complex at 16101 N. 83rd Avenue.

"Applicants should arrive early, bring plenty of resumes, dress appropriately and show their enthusiasm," said Joe Tuerff, director of business solutions at Goodwill of Central Arizona.

The fair will also include workshops and discussions covering how to use social media wisely in a job search and successful tips for job hunting.

Companies such as Banner Health, CenturyLink, Phoenix Police Department, PepsiCo, Charles Schwab, UPS, Pro Em, CyfaCom International and Wells Fargo Bank will be on-site interviewing.

Goodwill of Central Arizona is partnering with the City of Peoria to make the event possible.
