HOUMA, LA (WAFB) -

Sheriff's deputies said a junior high student was arrested after a pellet gun was found on him Tuesday morning.

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office reported the 16-year-old is charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds.

The incident happened at Houma Junior High.

Investigators said the school resource officer received information that a student had a pellet pistol with him.

They added the deputy on duty at the school and the principal pulled the suspected student out of class to question him about the accusations.

TPSO reported the boy denied the allegations, but a pellet gun was found in the waistband of his pants when the deputy searched him.

The teen was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Juvenile Justice Center.
