PORT ALLEN, LA (WAFB) - Mayor Deedy Slaughter has vetoed the Port Allen 2013-14 operating budget.
In a letter issued to the City Council, Mayor Slaughter cites five reasons for vetoing the budget. She claims that the budget does not address specific things like the needs of the police department, funding to the riverfront, the city's $400,000 in legal fees, raises for employees making less than $40,000, and no funding for the city's capital projects.
The next committee meeting will be held on November 6, 2013. Mayor Slaughter wants a new budget ready to propose at the Nov 13th meeting so it can be voted on in December.
