BAYOU VISTA, LA (WAFB) -

A tip from the public led to the arrest of the person believed to have been seen on surveillance video pushing a store employee before running away with food and computer software.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said Keith Tillman, 17, of Morgan City, was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

The incident happened at Walmart in Bayou Vista on October 22 around 6 p.m.

Responding deputies said the shoplifter pushed a worker at the store, tried to punch them and ran out of the store with the stolen items.

Investigators reported surveillance cameras inside the store captured everything. They released a still image of the suspect Tuesday, hoping someone recognized him.

SMPSO said it received several calls on the suspect's possible identity after the surveillance image was released to the media.

Tillman was booked into the parish jail on charges of theft of goods and simple battery. He was later released after posting the $1,500 bond.
