WALKER, LA (WAFB) - A 45-year-old man was arrested after Livingston Parish Detectives were asked to investigate a cruelty case involving a 71-year-old woman who lives in Walker, LA.
During the investigation, detectives learned that Christopher Gregus physically harmed the woman, threatened her, made several withdrawals from her bank account in excess of $1,500 and took her prescription medication without permission.
The cruelty began in August when the victim's original caretaker died and Gregus was named as the woman's caretaker.
Gregus was arrested on October 17 and booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on a $100,000 bond. He has been charged with simple battery of the infirmed, cruelty to the infirmed, exploitation of the infirmed, and theft of medication.
The investigation also revealed Gregus is a Canadian citizen. He is in this country illegally. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (or ICE) has placed a 'hold' on Gregus at this time.
