5 convenient store clerks arrested for selling alcohol to minors

ASCENSION PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

Five convenience store clerks were arrested for selling alcohol to minors Wednesday night.

An undercover sting operation involved Sheriff's Detectives and two 17-year-olds went into 27 different convenience stores in Ascension Parish, attempting to purchase alcoholic beverages. At five of those stores, the teenagers were able to make purchases.

The stores where the teens were able to purchase alcohol are Top Fuel on Airline Highway in Gonzales, Dutchtown Tiger Mart on Highway 73, Chips II Grocery on Highway 44 in Gonzales, Triple S on Highway 429 in St. Amant, and Rende's Quick Stop on Airline Highway in Gonzales.

These five people were arrested and charged with unlawful sale to persons under 21:

Kyle Sheets, 47, of St. Amant

LaTaunya Cage, 30, of Prairieville

Dana Brown, 34, of Geismar

Laterrika Sanders, 21, of Belle Rose

Ryan Avrill, 20, of Gonzales
