Wetumpka casino just days away from opening

WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) -

The Poarch Creek Indians' new casino in Wetumpka is just days away from opening with the addition of the hotel coming in early 2014.

WSFA 12 News reporter Bryan Henry says local businesses have mixed feelings about the expanded casino even though there is an overall sense that, in the long run, the project will be good for Wetumpka in terms of jobs and growth.

The casino recently had a jobs fair and more than 1,600 people showed up to apply. Some 580 were offered jobs though the majority of those people won't start until mid-November.

Coming up in our evening newscasts, Bryan is talking to people in the surrounding community about their expanding corporate neighbor.
