KENTON COUNTY, KY (FOX19) -

Kenton County Police have identified the human remains of a woman after her partially decomposed body was found in August.

Police say that the body was found alongside southbound I-75 on August 27. The body was found near the side of the highway, close to the truck weigh station in southern Kenton County. The weigh station is located at mile marker 168.

A man in a maintenance crew saw what he thought was a body near the wood line and called police. Police later confirmed that the suspicious finding was a partially decomposed human body.

The Medical Examiner's office, with the assistance of an odontologist, used dental records to identify the remains as those of Melinda Sue Ingram, 28, of New Richmond, Ohio.

Officers say Ingram's family last saw her approximately four weeks prior to her disappearance.

The Kenton County Police Department's investigation into Ingram's death remains open.

Anyone with information regarding her death, or her whereabouts in the weeks prior to the discovery of her remains is asked to call Detective Paul Anderson with the Kenton County Police Department at 859-392-1952.
