Government shutdown or not, tax extension deadline stands

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - IRS workers may be staying home because of the government shutdown, but that does not mean you don't have to pay your taxes.

The agency says Tuesday's deadline still stands for people who requested a six month extension in April.

The IRS says refunds will not be issued until the shutdown ends.

More than 90 percent of IRS staff is on a government-wide furlough right now.
