Saints lose to Patriots in last 5 seconds, 30-27

(WAFB) - The Saints lost to the Patriots in last 5 seconds, 30-27

Opening the game, Saints won the coin toss but deferred and the Patriots started with the ball. Early on, the Patriots took lead after Kicker Stephen Gostkowsky booted a 35-yard field goal.

The Patriots were ahead, 3-0.

The Saints moved quickly to catch up in the 1st quarter. Travaris Cadet landed his first career touchdown, and the Saints pull ahead at the end of the quarter, 7-3.

Running back Stevan Ridley ran a 1-yard touchdown in the beginning of the 2nd quarter, and the Patriots retake their gain in the game, 10-7. Ridley does it again, scoring on another touchdown afterwards, securing the Patriots' lead in the first half.

Saints enter halftime, falling behind the Patriots, 17-7.

Moving into the 3rd quarter, the Saints were trying to get into the zone with hopes to tie the score. Both teams were squatting just on the edge of the end zone at the 3-yard line, and Saints' cornerback Patrick Robinson scores a touchdown off to the left side. The Saints redeem themselves with a little over 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. The game is then tied, 17-17.

The tie is broken shortly afterwards as the Patriots' kicker Gostkowsky sails a 54-yard field goal, pushing the Saints back once again, 20-17. Gostkowsky does it again with over 8 minutes left in the game and increases the Patriots lead over the Saints, 23-17.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees still manages to find wide receiver Kenny Stills, and scores a touchdown. The Saints taking over by one point, 24-23. But it wasn't over yet.

Though the Saints scored another field goal afterwards, the Patriots secured the game in the end. Within the last minute of the game, the Patriots managed to score a touchdown. Brady threw a pass to Thompson with about 5 seconds left in the game, and Thompson caught it.

The Saints fall to the Patriots, 30-27.
