Coast Guard rescues 4 after helicopter crash in Gulf

GULF OF MEXICO (WAFB) -

Four people were rescued after a helicopter crashed in the Gulf of Mexico.

According to WWL-TV, the Coast Guard reported the helicopter went down about 30 miles northeast of Venice.

The rescue happened around 7:30 a.m. Four people were retrieved from the crash.

The Coast Guard medevaced one person with back injuries by helicopter to LSU Medical Center in New Orleans, and Acadian Air took three people to LSU Medical Center, according to the Coast Guard.

The conditions of those on the helicopter are unknown at this time.

The crash is under investigation.
