BR shooting leaves 7-year old with minor injuries

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A shooting that occurred this afternoon leaves a 7-year old child with minor injuries after being struck in the right lower leg.

According to Cpl. Don Coppola Jr. of the Baton Rouge Police Department, the shooting happened around 2:45 p.m. at Lamargie Street in the Belaire area.  Coppola reports that a suspect walked up to a GMC Yukon which had two people inside, and began shooting.

The vehicle was struck multiple times through the windshield and once through the driver's door.  The driver and passenger in the vehicle were unharmed.

Police are looking for a suspect described as "a tall black male with a low hair cut, who may hang out in the Sherwood Forest area."
