FRANKLIN, LA (WAFB) -

Authorities have released the name of a man found shot to death in a roadway early Monday morning.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said the victim has been identified as Jarnell McDaniel, 24, of Franklin. His body was discovered on Sorrel Bridge Approach Road just off LA 182 in Sorrel.

Jazmine Jackson, 23, of Franklin, was arrested on a warrant for first-degree murder early Tuesday morning in connection with McDaniel's death. He remains behind bars.

Investigators have not released any information on a possible motive for the deadly shooting. The investigation is ongoing.

Deputies said they received a 911 call a little before 2:30 a.m. about a man lying in the road along LA 182 in the Sorrel area. He had been shot. The coroner later pronounced the man dead.

Detectives said they received information later in the day identifying Jackson as the suspect. They added they believe Jackson drove the victim to Sorrel Bridge Approach Road and shot him.

SMPSO reported Jackson was found walking on Main Street (LA 182) in Franklin and taken into custody.

Deputies added the Franklin Police Department and US Marshal's Office assisted in the arrest.
