BAKER, LA (WAFB) - The wife of a man who was arrested Thursday for second degree murder is now behind bars and charged with accessory after the fact to second degree murder and accessory after the fact to illegal use of a weapon.
Garland R. Ruffin, 33, of Baker, LA was found shot to death and lying on the sidewalk on Kimberlain Street just after 11 p.m. Thursday. The shooting happened in the Heritage Court subdivision.
Police say that Ruffin and 21-year-old Kyren Davonta Eby were fighting in front of the apartment complex. At some point during the fight, Eby shot Ruffin. Police say that Eby left the scene with a female.
Several hours later Eby turned himself in to police. He was charged with second degree murder and illegal use of weapons.
The female has been arrested and identified as 22-year-old Miesha Scott. She is the wife of Kyren Eby.
The matter is still under investigation.
According to Baker Police Chief Mike Knaps, this is the first homicide in Baker since January 2011.
