BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana is known as the "Sportsman's Paradise" and this weekend the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will showcase outdoor activities that draw people to our state, as Saturday is National Hunting and Fishing Day.
The Waddill Outdoor Education Center on North Flannery Road in Baton Rouge is nearly 300 acres of property where people can learn about hunting, fishing, hiking and other outdoor activities.
In true Louisiana fashion, the event this weekend will be more like a festival. People will have the chance to participate in the various outdoor activities they can enjoy in different parts of the state.
It will consist of skeet shooting, boating activities, waterway safety, fishing and much more. Also, what's a Louisiana festival without food? People will be on hand to cook up some of the state's wild game for visitors to try.
The free event runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
