CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland Police are investigating the attempted abduction of a teenage girl on the city's east side.

The preliminary investigation reveals that a 14-year-old girl was walking to school on Monday morning in the area of Parkwood and Superior when a male jumped out from behind the bushes.

Luckily, the victim managed to escape unharmed and reported the incident at Moulton Mary M. Bethune Middle School.

"Fortunately, she's safe but unfortunately it happened to her and that kind of hurts," said Gwen Gageham.

One mother said she tries to take her children everywhere.

"Not very safe as far as trusting the neighborhood, but as long as I'm right there with them I'm O.K," stated Laquana Brown.

Police say the suspect was wearing a black-hooded G-Unit sweatshirt and black khaki pants.

The Cleveland Division of Police is asking that anyone with information to contact the 5th District Detective Bureau at 216-623-5518.
