SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -
A memorial has taken shape in Shreveport's Cedar Grove neighborhood, where a disabled man well known to locals was gunned down while riding his bike early Sunday morning.
It happened on East 75th Street near Thornhill in Shreveport just after 1 a.m.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found the man dead on the road. They say the man had been shot in the upper body. He has been identified as 32-year-old Sidney Thomas. Police say he was known to have disabilities.
Authorities were told gunfire was heard in the immediate vicinity moments prior to the discovery of Thomas' body. Police say they have no suspects at this time.
As the probe into the shooting death widens, investigators are working to develop leads in the case and are urging those with information regarding the shooting to contact Caddo-Crime Stoppers immediately at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
A prayer vigil is planned for 6 p.m. Monday at the memorial site.
