BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU football fans and those visiting from Kent State will start making their way near Tiger Stadium staking out spots to tailgate for Saturday's second LSU home game.
However, before you head to campus, the director of athletic parking has a few tips for you. The most important piece of advice the athletic parking office can offer is no matter how big or small the game that week, get to campus early!!!
If you've been around the LSU campus within the last few months, you've likely seen all the construction going on at and around Tiger Stadium. But, Director of Athletic Parking Adam Smith said that construction was not the cause of increased game day traffic last week.
According to Smith, construction at the Levee and Hayfield lots was the biggest issue. There were nearly 2,000 fewer parking spots because of it and the remaining free parking lots filled up three hours before kickoff causing backups as fans searched for other options.
While free parking is ideal, Smith added there are hundreds of spots you can pay for within the gates. Unless the lot requires a special permit, you can get a spot in the middle of all the tailgate fun for $40. Click here for more LSU game day parking information
Things could get pretty busy over on "The Bluff" Saturday as well. It's the first home game for the Southern Jaguars. The university is expecting some backups for this game, too, as people look for parking. SU officials also encourage everyone to arrive early. Click here for more Southern game day parking information
