GEISMAR, LA (WAFB) - There is a new BASF plant in Geismar, La. And it will create more jobs. The company announced plans Thursday to build a fourth facility in Louisiana.
The $42 million location will be for the blending of polyurethane.
BASF expanded into the state four years ago and so far, that's meant 600 new jobs in the state.
"It's great that we are adding more value in our state rather than shipping our products to other states - we're creating more of that value, more of that wealth - right here at home," said Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal.
The company looks to start construction next June and will be ready to open the following year in 2015.
