BAYOU VISTA, LA (WAFB) - Two men were arrested after sheriff's deputies said they found materials for a meth lab during a traffic stop Wednesday evening.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office said Michael Howard, 42, of Bayou Vista, and Eddie Norman Jr., 35, of Berwick, were taken into custody just before 6 p.m.
According to reports, deputies with the narcotics division were patrolling the Bayou Vista area and saw a vehicle run a stop sign.
Detectives said they pulled over the car and discovered precursor items for a meth lab inside. They added the find led them to a hotel room in the area where more meth lab-related components were located.
Investigators said they also found Vyvanse pills and drug paraphernalia. Vyvanse is a prescription medicine for the treatment of ADHD.
Both men were booked into the parish prison on a charge of operation of a clandestine lab. Bond has not been set.
Howard also faces charges of possession of Vyvanse and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition to the meth lab charge, Norman is being held on warrants for aggravated assault and domestic abuse battery.
SMPSO stated Norman was convicted in 2012 on a charge of operating a clandestine laboratory.
