BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A former high-ranking military officer from Louisiana said he is against a US attack on Syria.

I'm a great believer in being able to justify what we are doing," said Col. Phil St. Amant, US Army (Ret.). "And, I don't think the president has done that in this case."

St. Amant said he doesn't see an objective in President Barack Obama's proposal. Even though he believes chemical weapons were used in Syria, St. Amant added there's no real proof.

US Rep. Steve Scalise, R-LA, has become the state's latest congressman to reject the idea of a US military strike on Syria. US Sen. David Vitter, R-LA, US Rep. Charles Boustany, R-LA and US Rep. John Fleming, R-LA, have also said they will vote against the president's proposal.
