CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The parents of a 12-year-old boy struck by lightning last June say while he remains in critical condition, he is now receiving rehabilitation treatment at a hospital closer to his Loveland home.

Ethan Kadish, of Loveland, was one of three children injured when lightning struck at the Goldman-Union Camp Institute near Indianapolis. Kadish was teaching others campers how to play Ultimate Frisbee at the time.

Kadish went into cardiac arrest and sustained a brain injury due to decreased blood flow to his organs. He was immediately taken to a hospital in Indianapolis where his family says he was in critical condition, in an induced coma and breathing through a ventilator.

Despite his condition, Kadish was eventually flown to Cincinnati Children's Hospital to be closer to his family. His parents say he is now receiving treatment from a host of pediatric rehabilitation experts at Children's.

According to his doctors, Kadish can't move or speak. He is responding well to therapy but has a long road to recovery ahead.

The other two children injured in the incident, both 9-years-old, were treated and released.
