Xavier named #4 college in the Midwest

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

For the 19th straight year, Xavier University is among the top 10 Midwest colleges and universities, according to the U.S. News & World Report rankings released today September 10.  

The 2014 edition of America's Best Colleges ranks Xavier number four among Midwest colleges and universities.  Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska took the number one spot followed by Butler University in Indianapolis and Drake University in Iowa. 

"We are once again honored to find ourselves in the top 10 and especially pleased to be at the top with two fellow schools in The Big East, Creighton and Butler," said Michael J. Graham, S.J., president of Xavier University.  "I want to especially commend our faculty and staff for their efforts to uphold and advance the 'Xavier Way' of learning, reflection integrity and achievement.

Last year's issue ranked Xavier fourth best in the Midwest.

U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on several key measures of quality. Peer assessment (25%), graduation and retention rates (25%), faculty resources (20%), student selectivity (15%), financial resources (10%) and alumni giving (5%).  A detailed report on the rankings and methodology may be found at the U.S. News and World Report website at www.usnews.com.
