Suspect arrested in LSU Lakes robbery

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Police have arrested a Baker woman for robbing a jogger of her phone near the LSU Lakes.

According to reports, Courtney Fruge, 19, and another suspect confronted the victim in the 3100 block of E. Lakeshore and asked to borrow her phone.  The victim said no, but Fruge continued talking to her and eventually the victim agreed to dial a number and leave a message.

The victim told police that Fruge then grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground.  Investigators say Fruge punched and kicked the victim several times, then threatened to shoot her, at which point the victim gave up the phone.

Police say Fruge and the other suspect jumped into a gray Honda Accord with two men inside and fled.

The robbery happened on August 28th around 3:40 p.m.

Fruge has been charged with second degree robbery.

The victim was treated at an area hospital for her injuries.
