PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) -
Louisiana State Police have identified the woman who was killed in a major car crash Saturday morning in Prairieville.
Elsa Diaz, 27, the driver of a 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser, was heading eastbound on Henry Rd when she failed to stop at an intersection of Henry Rd and LA 930.
Around the same time a 1999 Ford F-450 driven by Denham Springs resident Mark Heffley, 44, was heading southbound on LA 930. The PT Cruiser was then struck by Heffley's F-450 truck.
According to Louisiana State Police, Diaz suffered fatal injuries even though she was wearing a seatbelt. Troopers were not able to identify her at the time of the crash because she was carrying a false identification. Her vehicle was carrying five other passengers, including several juveniles.
All were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor to moderate injuries, except for one juvenile who is reported to have serious injuries from the crash. The juvenile was transported to Our Lake of the Lake Hospital .
Troopers say impairment is not suspected to be a factor on either driver in the crash.
