Detectives investigate burglary at Ponchatoula High

PONCHATOULA, LA (WAFB) -

Investigators are looking for burglary suspects after it was discovered Friday morning that Ponchatoula High School had been broken into overnight.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office reported the suspects damaged numerous doors and windows to get into the school.

Janitors contacted authorities around 5:15 a.m. after discovering the crime had been committed.

Several doors to classrooms and windows were damaged.

"I feel violated and I get disappointed and I hope that is not any of our students," said Ponchatoula High School Assistant Principal Marybeth Crovetto.

She says break-ins have happened in the past.

"We have had kids try to get into the courtyard and get into the coke machine, "said Crovetto.

Detectives are going through surveillance video from the school.

The burglars stole a laptop and iPads.

Edwards said he is offering $500 in addition to the reward offered through Crime Stoppers for information leading to the identity and/or arrest of the suspects.

Anyone with information about this crime should call Crime Stoppers at 800-554-5245.
