BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The deadline is less than a month away for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in East Baton Rouge.
The program allows income-eligible people to have their energy bills paid directly to their energy provider.
LIHEAP makes utility payments to Entergy and other energy providers on behalf of the eligible EBR residents.
Officials say applications are still being taken on a first come, first serve basis.
Applications can be turned on Monday, Sept. 10 through Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 8am until 4pm, and on Thursday, Sept. 13 from 8am until noon at the following sites:
For residents in 70805, 70807 (North of Blount Rd.), 70811 (North of Hooper Rd.), 70714: Central Office, 4523 Plank Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70805.
For residents in 70739 (North of Hooper Rd.), 70770, 70791: Chaneyville Community Center, 13211 Jackson Road, Zachary, LA 70791.
For residents in 70739 (South of Hooper Rd.), 70811 (South of Hooper Rd.), 70812, 70818 (West of Joor Rd.): Delmont Service Center, 3535 Riley Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70805
For residents in 70801, 70802 (South of Gov't St.), 70808, 70809, 70810, 70817, 70820: Dr. Leo S. Butler Comm. Center, 950 East Washington St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
For residents in 70802 (North of Gov't St.), 70806, 70814, 70815, 70816, 70818 (East of Joor Rd.), 70819: Dr. Martin L. King Comm. Center, 4000 Gus Young Ave., Baton Rouge, LA 70802

In addition to these sites, applications can be dropped off at the Office of Social Services, 4523 Plank Road, anytime before Sept. 30. The office will have special evening hours from 5pm to 7pm Monday through Thursday.
