River Region United Way is proud to partner again with EMERGE Montgomery for the 5th Annual Rally in the Alley! A partnership of EMERGE Montgomery and the River Region United Way, Rally in the Alley marks the official kickoff of the 2013 United Way Campaign and also serves as a volunteer drive for United Way affiliate agencies.
Date:  Thursday, September 5, 2013
Time:  5:00 – 7:00pm (Program begins at 6:00pm)
Location:  The Alley in downtown Montgomery (entrances at Commerce, Coosa and Tallapoosa Streets)
Admission:  Free and open to the public
Twenty community nonprofits – all of them local United Way affiliate agencies – will be on hand at the event to promote volunteer opportunities with their organizations. Because of its annual campaign support, the River Region United Way impacts nearly 140,000 lives every year in the River Region through the programs and services provided by its 40+ affiliate agencies.
This much-anticipated event includes live entertainment from The Good Doctor, as well as free food to sample and drink specials offered by restaurants and bars in The Alley. Although there is no admission charge for the event, the public is encouraged to bring donations of new bath towels or personal hygiene items, which will be collected and donated to several United Way agencies. Anyone bringing these items to the event will receive a free Rally in the Alley t-shirt.
As part of the program, beginning at 6:00pm, total funds raised to date through the Pacesetter Campaign will be announced. The overall fundraising goal for the 2013 United Way Campaign will also be revealed. Returning this year as presenting sponsor for Rally in the Alley is Auburn Montgomery, joined by supporting sponsor, Trustmark Bank.
